Amazing recovery: day 4
He is just so amazing. Yesterday, it looked like Jonas ' recovery would be slowed down for at least a few days when the left lung crumpled. During the couple of hours in surgery last night, a big plug of mucus was taken out and the lung returned to normal while the thorax was still being drained. The digestive tract is perfectly sewn up, no air leak. The doctor does not know where that air came from but, Jonas slept while in the recovery room and, in a complete turnaround, look at him today afternoon:
Isn ' t that incredible? After very good results on the radio taken of his lungs this morning, Jonas slept until his family came from Ontario. This is his mom, Emma, doing her handiwork in the family room:
And this is the surgeon ' s handiwork, at least as fine as Emma ' s, to clear up Jonas ' lung:
Jonas ' dad enjoyed eating a huge burger without inducing any hunger in his son who, as a perfected and enlightened being, is purified of any vile desires such as gobbling up food or drinking:
Jonas was even able to walk aided by a cart to the family room at the end of the corridor and come back to his bed. He was coming alive again under my very own eyes:
It looked as though we could have unplugged him right away and he could have run to La Banquise and have a poutine with you guys:
My family came after his family left and some good moments were shared. Here is my brother helping to put a warm cushion on Jonas ' sore back:
All this thanks to the genius of Dr. Ferri who fixed everything up. Dr. McNamee, Jonas ' brother-in-law, is also a thoracic surgeon of the highest caliber and came down from Boston. I snapped a picture while both of them shared a hearty doctor ' s talk in the hallway, in their secret doctor language:
Since the company of others puts him in such a good mood, I will attempt to convince him that seeing his friends is part of his treatment towards a complete recovery!
