Yeah! Blobs of Mucus!: Day 5 and 6
Friends have started to come in and this is the best thing for Jonas. Alone, he is not very motivated in doing things like exercising and can be in a somber mood. As soon as I appear, we do some chest physio which involves clapping with cupped hands on his back. I have never been so happy to see large blobs of mucus noisily come out of someone ' s mouth. That is what clapping sessions are supposed to bring out and it works.
Jonas has made a lot of progress this weekend in clearing his lungs and building some strength. He even raced past the nurse station in the corridor and came back to his bed while I was holding the tubes and running after him. He sat down, exhausted, his heart beating like he had run a marathon. Let ' s just say he is not going to play Ultimate Frisbee anytime soon.
While I hold a more quiet, caretaking role, when friends appear, that ' s when the real party begins! Talking of party, you should come to the Mini-Yulblog meeting on Wednesday (sept. 5th) that will be held around 7:30pm at the hospital. You should be getting a confirmation by email soon, if you are usually in contact with Yulbloggers.
Now, the meeting is not going to be held in his bedroom, as you can imagine, but in the ' family room ' which, for the occasion, will be renamed the ' friends room '. I believe it could hold up to 14 people if we add chairs or if people sit on the mats that they have there. You will be able to be almost as rowdy as you want because that room is open until midnight. No beers, though, ok?
