Clothes whores

These shorts cost $430. A coworker is very good friends with a self-proclaimed metrosexual clothing whore who bought a shirt from these guys, D-Squared. The shirt cost about $380. The coworker has borrowed the shirt and is wearing it today.

I have to admit, it's a nice shirt, but that's pretty much all I can say about it. That shirt costs as much as rent for many people living here. It has wear and tear premade into it, which isn't something I understand at all. But clearly I don't understand fashion. I wear clothes mainly because they are comfortable and fit a specific function. I simply can't bring myself to pay for aesthetics most of the time, especially if it raises the price of something by a factor of 5. I wouldn't even bother pirating clothes if I could.

Are you a clothes whore? Do you know any? Shoe whores? Everyone knows a shoe whore. One of those Marketing Women in my old company has 60 pairs and thinks that it is normal. All the other ones seemed to agree. If you can explain this, tell me about it in the comments.

I am definitely not a clothes whore. I hate trying on clothes. I hate spending money on clothes. I tend to wear the same comfy clothing over and over.

Strange though, I think I qualify for shoe whoredom, not quite sure how or why exactly but I probably have about 40 pairs of shoes, maybe more.

A coworker of mine - a male - recently returned to the office after hsi lunch break with three pairs of shoes. While I couldn't deny his logic (he got three pairs of nice shoes for $100), I kept asking him why he needed three pairs of shoes. 'You only have one pair of feet!' He persisted.

Women, however, I can understand. I mean, not only is there this pressure to look good and fit the model of 'ideal' (I guess that is arguable), women also look GOOD. I mean it, women are beautiful, all of them, and on top of that, they have all these different options for clothes, shoes, accessories, and make-up that let them completely change their look from one day to the next.

I'm starting to understand why women have so many shoes and accessories and stuff now - because they CAN. I envy them that. Men's clothes are just so boring. Fortunately, there are lots of women in Montréal for me to admire, which kind of makes up for it.
