Client relations
I'm sorry that I haven't posted anything here in almost a month. I'm not dead, I just have little to say here. I did want to post the following email thread, though, because it's an inside sales guys' wet dream in a sense. You see, we talk to men and women on the phone every day. We speak to more types of people than most. We are one of the groups of people that really appreciates a sexy voice. My corworker, Seamus, has been in correspondence with the owner of such a voice this week. Turns out that her boss is the father of an old friend of his from back in the day, so they had something to start with. Seamus is married and will probably avoid meeting this woman, but they hit it off quite well and became quite friendly rather quickly. Here's their conversation:

Hi Seamus,
I'm going to send a little e-mail off to Gord. Should I just say you say hi? It was a little hectic here when you called so I didn't quite catch your connection.
Also, a heads up that my boss may want to conference you on a call later to discuss the package details. I think it's pretty straightforward, but she may have some additional questions.
Chat soon,
Petra

Not to worry I just e-mailed Gord directly and we are actually chatting now through e-mail. But Mr. Cassidy and I come from the same town and his son and I were pretty good buddies when were in our teens and very early twenties.
As for a conference call with your boss please do not hesitate to contact me any time or if you would prefer we can schedule a time.
Let me know.
Seamus

I signed up for the trial online and accepted the XXX option. Because of our accounting system, we need to receive monthly invoices and can't pay by credit card. We would also like to receive the invoices in Canadian dollars (something I assume you may already do).
I know Credit Card payments are easier, and I hate to inconvenience my favorite new sales rep (emphasis mine), but please let me know how we'd go about setting up regular invoicing.
Thanks so much.
My favourite new sales rep? At this point, I assume that they've had a few flirty phone conversations. Still, it seems a little strange to me.

I just faxed you the signed agreement. Everything is ok on our end.
So now that that's taken care of, let's talk Montreal...

Uh huh. Turns out that she's coming to Montreal with a female friend (for one of his friends to deal with, I suppose) and two gay guys. She made it clear to him that they were gay. (Seamus calls them fags; he's one of those guys) Let's talk Montreal? She suggested that they get together if he's available this weekend. Seamus hasn't mentioned his wife. He tells us that if he were to meet this client, which he wouldn't, he'd bring her. I get the feeling that if pictures had been exchanged and if those pictures were acceptable, then it wouldn't be quite so obvious for him to play the honour card. Anyway, he's too macho. Two girls and two gay men are coming to Montreal. You don't bring gay men here unless you plan on spending much of your party time in the Village, which he won't go to. Still, it's interesting thinking of the possibilities.
